THE BEERTAILOR is a supporter of Responsible Drinking, “Drink Smart!”

THE BEERTAILOR is committed to promoting beer culture and responsible and cultured alcohol consumption. We would like to raise awareness of responsible alcohol consumption among the adult Hungarian population. Our aim is to educate as many people as possible about the principles of drinking alcoholic beverages.

The pleasure is greater by far!
For healthy adults, moderate consumption of alcoholic beverages is compatible with a balanced, healthy lifestyle. After all, a glass of cold beer is a good accompaniment to a delicious evening meal or a get-together with friends. However, it is undeniable that excessive, irresponsible alcohol consumption can have negative mental, social or health consequences. Unfortunately, irresponsible and excessive alcohol consumption is also present in Hungary. There are many people who do not know where the limits are, who are not aware of the basic rules of alcohol consumption and the responsibilities that go with it.

What is responsible and moderate drinking?
It is important to always be clear about our actions and to be able to give an account of them. There is no precise definition of moderate drinking. Moderate drinking is when it does not cause a health problem, either for the drinker or for those around them.

What is moderate for whom?
This is entirely personal for everyone, and can depend on age, gender, general lifestyle, health, and anything else that affects the effects of alcohol on the body. Importantly, alcohol impairs coordination, vision and reflexes. When drinking alcohol, never get behind the wheel or do any work that requires concentration.
Responsible drinking means being aware of when, where, what and how much to drink. I know that I am responsible – for myself and the environment – and I act accordingly.
THE BEERTAILOR “Drink Smart!” programme aims to raise awareness of responsible and conscious drinking by focusing on individual responsibility.

What does alcohol cause?
Alcohol, even in small amounts, can affect the central nervous system. In small quantities, it can help digest food, cause mood swings, heighten emotions and show them. In large quantities, it can cause aggressiveness, headaches, nausea and other unpleasant symptoms. Alcohol makes you drowsy and slows down your reflexes.

Drinking alcohol is not recommended at all:
During pregnancy as it can have a number of harmful effects on the foetus.
The pregnancy may have several adverse effects during pregnancy: it may be harmful to the baby’s health.
For people suffering from serious illnesses and for those taking medication(s) incompatible with alcohol.
Before and during sport, as it reduces concentration and physical stamina.
For persons under 18 years of age.

THE BEERTAILOR considers it important to drink alcohol in moderation. It is important for everyone to be aware of how much they should drink in order not to exceed a certain limit.
